Functions and Activities of the Directorate of Printing & Stationery, Nagaland

 

1.         INTRODUCTION :

 

The Nagaland Govt. Printing Press, now called as Printing & Stationery Department was established alongwith the attainment of Statehood in the year 1963. Apart from Main Press, Kohima there are two Branch Press Offices one at Mokokchung and the other at Development Authority Complex, Dimapur. The Department is technical in its nature of works.

 

2.         NAME OF THE ORGANISATION :

 

Printing & Stationery Department, Nagaland, Kohima.

 

3.         OBJECTIVES :

 

The main objectives of the Department is to meet the various types of printing requirements of the State Govt. Offices as well as Central Govt. Offices located within the State of Nagaland.

 

4.         ACTIVITIES/FUNCTION OF THE ORGANISATION :

 

            The main activities of the Department in its inception was limited to printing the Nagaland Gazette fortnightly and other common forms used by the different Govt. Departments. At present,  the Govt. Press execute confidential and sensitive items such as Ballot Paper, Budget Documents, various reports related to A.G. Nagaland, Annual Administrative Reports, Acts & Rules, Notifications, VVIP’s speeches, Invitation Cards, Writing Pads, Slip Pads, Service Rules of different Departments and Nag land Calendar etc. etc.

 

            The Directorate has a Stationery Wing and its main function is to procure and distribute the 12 (twelve) items of centralized stationery articles to the indenting Departments as per their requirements on payment through Treasury Challan.

The decision making in respect of the Department is vested with the Director.

 

            Files relating to administrative matters are generally processed initially at the level of LDAs/UDAs who submit the files to Superintendent/Registrar who in turn submit the file to Joint Director and to Addl. Director. The Addl. Director submit files to the Director for final orders. Matters having financing implication are processed by the Account Section and checked by the Superintendent (Acctt.), Joint Director and to the Addl. Director who is DDO for comments and finally endorsed to the Director for final decision.

 

            Files relating to technical matters are generally processed by Asstt. Director to Joint Director and Addl. Director and to the Director for final decision.

 

            Matters which requires Govt. approval/sanction etc. are sent with approval of the Director to the Government.

 

Supervision : The Director supervises the works of all the different sections. The Administrative/Section in Charge supervise the works under them. The office staff are supervised by the Joint Director/registrar& Superintendents.

 

Accountability : The Officers and Staffs are accountable for timely disposal of the works allotted to them.
